Otway Fly Treetop Walk

Overview

This is the rainforest experience that actually feels like the rainforest—above it. The Treetop Walk strings 600 meters of elevated steel walkway 25–30 meters above the forest floor, then ups the ante with a swaying cantilever over Young’s Creek and a 47‑meter Spiral Tower for full canopy views. The full Rainforest + Treetop Walk loop is 1.9 km and takes about an hour at an easy pace.

• A courtesy shuttle runs between the Visitor Centre and the start of the walk if you’d rather skip the initial uphill.

Wildlife & Nature

You’re walking through cool‑temperate rainforest: fern gullies, myrtle beech, and towering trees create a layered canopy. Keep an ear out for birdlife (kookaburras are regulars) and take your time—looking down and out from the treetops reveals details you miss at ground level.

Zipline Option

If you want more adrenaline, the guided Zipline Tour (about 2.5 hours) flies between “cloud stations” up to ~30 meters above the forest. It’s popular—book ahead and arrive early for check‑in.

Best Time to Visit

Aim for morning or late afternoon for softer light on the canopy and fewer people. Because last entry is 3:30 pm, starting by early afternoon gives you breathing room. Wet days are underrated—the forest looks and smells richer, just bring a light rain jacket and sturdy shoes. Note the walkway, tower and cantilever can sway a little.

Food & Facilities

There’s a cafe at the Visitor Centre (hot drinks and snacks; kitchen typically 10:00 am–3:00 pm). On‑site toilets and a large car park handle everything from cars to coaches. Note: no BYO picnics or alcohol.
