Tucked inside the visitor center, the Park Store is where you pick up smart souvenirs and genuinely useful resources—think field guides, geology reads, valley maps, and well-designed apparel. It’s operated by the park’s nonprofit partner, so your dollars help fund education and research here.

Why Stop Here First

This is the easiest place to get your bearings: the visitor center right next door has new interactive exhibits (installed in 2023) and a 20‑minute park film, plus rangers who can help with conditions and Junior Ranger books. Restrooms with flush toilets and a water fill station are in the lobby, so you can top up bottles before you hit the sand.

What It’s Not

You won’t find sand sled/board rentals here—they’re typically rented just outside the park before the entrance. Snacks are minimal, so bring your own food if you’re planning a long dunes session.

Best Time to Visit

The store follows visitor center hours (generally 9:00 am–4:30 pm, closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day). It’s busiest late morning through early afternoon, especially on weekends. For a smoother browse and quick checkout, aim for opening hour or after 3 pm, preferably midweek. Plan 20–45 minutes if you’re pairing it with the film and exhibits.
