Sunwapta Falls Rocky Mountain Lodge is a cabin-style lodge and public restaurant on the Icefields Parkway, about 53 km south of Jasper. It works as an overnight base or a meal stop on a remote drive. Sunwapta Falls is close enough to reach on foot, but it is a separate attraction; allow a walk rather than expecting the waterfall at the lodge itself.
The stay is in rustic, cabin-style rooms, and some have wood-burning fireplaces. The lodge sits among trees in a mountain setting, with the river and falls nearby. Visitors often value the easy walk to Sunwapta Falls. Room impressions vary, so choose this stop for its location and convenience more than a polished resort experience.
The restaurant is open to the public as well as lodge guests. It serves breakfast, deli-style lunches and takeaway, including sandwiches, soups and salads, plus regionally inspired dinners. A gift shop is also on site. Together, these services make it a useful place to rest or eat without driving back to Jasper.
The operator traces the business to the Sunwapta Tea House in the 1940s. The property has since grown into a roadside lodge with cabin-style lodging and dining, keeping its role as a stop on the long drive through the Rockies.
