Don’t expect dense herds right at the hill; the granitic sands support less grazing than the richer basalt plains to the east, so general game is patchier here.

You’re looking at resistant granite gneiss/schist that has weathered into an isolated dome—an inselberg. Around it, nutrient‑poor, acidic granitic soils keep the grasses lean, shaping the wildlife mix you see.

Think “drive-and-scan.” Appreciate Shabeni from loop roads and pull-outs; remain in your vehicle unless signage says otherwise. Move slowly and glass the rock faces and skyline—cats tuck into shade, klipspringer stand statue-still on the boulders.

Underrated if you love geology, photography, and predator/raptor lotteries; less compelling if you’re after big, reliable herds right at the stop. Pair it with nearby watercourses or basaltic grasslands later in your drive to round out the game viewing.
