Callville Bay Beach

Overview

Set just above the marina, Callville Bay Picnic Area is a low‑key, shady spot to spread lunch and watch the boat traffic without the bustle of the Vegas side. Think lawns and trees, grills going, and lake views—more picnic hub than beach.

• Eight picnic tables and eight grills in a shaded, grassy area.
• Restrooms nearby plus access to running water.
• Panels that explain local history—nice to browse while the coals heat.
• Pets are welcome on a leash (six feet max); don’t leave them unattended and pack out waste.

Swimming and Shore Access

Despite the name, this is not a swim beach. Swimming is prohibited inside the marina/harbor, and there isn’t a signed, drive‑up “Callville Bay Beach.” If you want an easy dip from shore, head to a designated drive‑up spot elsewhere in the park; around Callville, small coves are mainly reached by boat.

Nearby Conveniences

You’re a short walk from the marina’s restaurant, lounge, café and small store, plus boat rentals and the launch ramp. The adjacent NPS campground has water spigots throughout, restrooms with sinks and toilets, and a dump/water refill station at the entrance (no site hookups, no showers).

Wildlife

Expect desert regulars: birds flitting in the trees, lizards on warm rocks, and busy antelope squirrels. Coyotes occasionally roam the area—never feed wildlife.

Best Time to Visit

Hours run roughly 6 am–10 pm. In hot months, aim for early morning or late afternoon for shade and cooler temps; weekdays are typically calmer than weekends around the marina.

If You’re Exploring More

For a quick leg‑stretch with views, the nearby Callville Summit Trail climbs to a fine overlook of Lake Mead and the surrounding mountains. If boating is on the menu, rentals are right at the marina.
