This is the original Macneill family farmhouse whose gables, orchards and woods L.M. Montgomery reworked into the Cuthbert home in Anne of Green Gables. The property belonged to cousins of her grandfather, and the oldest kitchen wing dates to 1830, with settlement of the land beginning in 1831. Montgomery herself lived with her grandparents about a kilometre away and knew this farm well, but she never lived here. The site of her own Cavendish home is a separate place nearby, so don't confuse the two. Inside, the rooms have been decorated to match the period and the fictional household, which is either delightful or slightly odd depending on how you feel about a real house furnished as a novel.
