Guide
Hiouchi Visitor Center is the northernmost visitor center in Redwood National and State Parks, nine miles east of Crescent City on U.S. 199. It’s a practical first stop for maps and local route advice before you head to nearby redwood groves. The exhibit area is compact, so think quick orientation and helpful staff rather than a long museum visit.
Inside, displays introduce Tolowa culture and art alongside redwood ecology. There’s also a Junior Ranger program and a bookstore with books and souvenirs, so it’s an easy place to pick up a map, browse, and get your bearings before exploring.
