Hāna Farms is a seven-acre farm and roadside food stop about four miles outside Hāna, just beyond mile marker 31 on Hāna Highway from Kahului. The public-facing campus brings together a farm stand, bakery and The Bamboo Hale, an open-air restaurant. It suits a meal or a break to browse local products during the drive; a tour of the working farm is not documented, so stick to the public market and restaurant areas.

Banana bread is the signature, made with bananas from the farm and neighboring farms. Loaves come in original, chocolate-chip, macadamia-nut and pineapple flavors, alongside local produce, baked treats, coffee and goods from Hāna-area makers. Stock changes, but this is a good place to pick up a snack or something local to take onward.

The restaurant serves island plates and harvest salads, with salad greens varying by what is ready on the farm. It also advertises pizza on Fridays. That Friday service can turn this into a longer meal stop: several recent visitors reported waits of an hour or more, so leave room in the day if pizza is the plan.
How the farm startedThe seven acres were bought in 1999, when much of the hillside was covered in banyan trees.
The seven acres were bought in 1999, when much of the hillside was covered in banyan trees. Banana bread became the farm’s first product in 2006, first baked in a toaster oven and sold by the roadside. The stand grew from that small beginning into a market for produce, baked goods and local suppliers.
Growing food on volcanic groundThe hand-worked hillside plots grow tropical fruit, vegetables, herbs, spices and flowers.
The hand-worked hillside plots grow tropical fruit, vegetables, herbs, spices and flowers. Much of the land is volcanic rock, so cultivated soil had to be built up. The property also includes a food forest and spice garden, but public access to those growing areas is not confirmed.

The Bamboo Hale is a bamboo dining structure surrounded by tropical garden. Rich of Whispering Winds Bamboo Farm in Kīpahulu designed and built it using bamboo from that regenerative farm. The name hale means a home or structure in Hawaiian. Visitors also regularly mention the restrooms, making this a practical break as well as a food stop.
