Roosevelt Lodge Cabins is a seasonal lodging complex at Tower-Roosevelt, centered on a historic log lodge. It makes sense as a simple base for the park’s northeast, especially Lamar Valley and nearby hikes. Choose it for its old-fashioned setting and location, not modern hotel comforts: the cabins are intentionally plain, and the lodge’s rocking-chair porch is part of the appeal.

Pick your cabin carefullyFrontier cabins have two double beds and a private bathroom with a shower.

Frontier cabins have two double beds and a private bathroom with a shower. Roughrider cabins have one to three double beds, a wood stove, and shared bathrooms and showers in a central bathhouse. If a private bathroom matters, book the Frontier style; Roughrider guests mention bringing sandals for the bathhouse, and light sleepers may want earplugs. Cabins have electricity, but no Wi-Fi, air conditioning or television, and cooking is not allowed inside.

The lodge dining room serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in season, with seating first-come, first-served. Its menu highlights hearty American food, including Applewood-smoked barbecue ribs and Roosevelt baked beans. A small mercantile carries gifts, souvenirs and books. The corral offers one- and two-hour horseback rides, stagecoach outings through Pleasant Valley, and dinner cookouts reached by horseback, wagon or stagecoach.

People have camped here for centuries, including Indigenous travelers along the Bannock Trail. President Chester Arthur camped at the site in 1883. Camp Roosevelt began as a tent camp in 1906; the log lodge was completed in 1920, and the first cabins followed in 1922 as more visitors arrived by car. Despite the name, Theodore Roosevelt never camped here. The historic district includes 130 buildings and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
