Trail guide
Tinline Bay Nature Walk is about a 0.65-mile (1.04 km) loop from Tinline Campsite, following a short connector into native coastal forest beside Tinline Creek. Allow about 20 minutes. If you're already at Tinline, it's a worthwhile little detour for a quiet creekside walk and an unusual tree.
The route begins behind, on the west side of the campsite clearing. It makes a small forest circuit, then returns to the campsite on the same short connector. The published time is clear, but the distance is not; the mileage here is measured from the mapped footpath, so treat it as approximate. Keep the loop separate from the longer Coast Track approach from Mārahau.
The walk follows Tinline Creek through lowland coastal forest. Its best-known feature is an unusual tree growing in an unusual spot, though its species and exact position aren't reliably identified. This is a short nature walk rather than a summit or long-distance hike. Dogs aren't allowed in the park.
