Perched high in the Sunshine Village alpine, this boutique lodge is the park’s only on-mountain, ski-in/ski-out stay. You wake up above the valley, step straight onto snow in winter or trails in summer, and end the day soaking in one of Banff’s largest outdoor hot tubs under big mountain skies.
Rustic-leaning rooms (84 total) balance mountain character with modern comforts; some add fireplaces and balconies with peak views. Nights are peaceful and starry, and mornings are all about first tracks or getting a jump on the trails before day visitors arrive.
You don’t drive to the front door. Park at the base area and ride the gondola up to the lodge; that’s part of the fun—also a key constraint. Plan around gondola hours, pack light, and expect to send gear via the hotel’s systems. Once the lift closes, you’re happily “on the mountain.”
You’ve got multiple on-site options for food and drinks (including Chimney Corner and Eagle’s Nest) that stay open for lodge guests. Après is mellow: think hot tub soaks, sauna time, and a quiet drink instead of nightlife.
The high alpine here is classic Rockies habitat. Around nearby trails you may encounter marmots, pikas, mountain goats, elk—and, more rarely, bears. Give wildlife space and follow park guidance.
