Panther Junction Service Station

Overview

Panther Junction Service Station is the park’s most convenient refuel-and-resupply hub, just west of the Panther Junction Visitor Center at the crossroads of the main park roads. It’s functional, not flashy—but in a park this remote, it’s clutch.

• Gas and diesel, with pay-at-pump access around the clock.
• Small store carrying groceries and snacks, coffee, ice cream, ice, gifts, souvenirs, books, and alcohol.
• Flush restrooms, potable drinking water, ATM, and recycling on site.
• Practical extras like an air compressor can be a day-saver.

Why It Matters

Big Bend’s distances are no joke. This is one of very few places inside the park where you can get fuel (including diesel) and grab essentials in a single stop. Most visitors plan routes around topping off here.

What to Expect

Think mini-mart, not supermarket: good for snacks, drinks, a few forgotten camp items, and a cold beer, but not a full grocery run. Store hours are daytime, but the pumps remain available 24/7 with cards/tap. It’s a straightforward service stop with desert views and big skies. Wildlife viewing isn’t the draw here.

• After dark, pumps work but it’s very dark—bring a headlamp if you’re stopping late.
