Overview

Jamison Lookout is the quick-win viewpoint just steps from the Wentworth Falls picnic area. A short, flat sealed path drops you onto a generous platform that suddenly opens to the Jamison Valley—a broad bowl of eucalypt forest framed by sandstone cliffs, with Mount Solitary holding the horizon.

• Wide-angle views across the Jamison Valley and its sheer escarpments, with Mount Solitary clearly in sight.
• Classic Blue Mountains layers that shift blue-green with the light. Note: you won’t see Wentworth Falls themselves from this platform.

Getting There & Nearby Walks

From the main car park and picnic area, it's a brief stroll to the platform. If you’ve got time, use the lookout as a launch pad: short detours head toward Princes Rock Lookout and Fletchers Lookout for closer views of the falls, while the Prince Henry Cliff Walk strings together multiple cliff‑edge viewpoints. One established traverse even ends here from the Leura/Katoomba side.

Facilities

You’ll find seating and information boards at the platform, with toilets and picnic tables just behind at the picnic area. There are no bins—pack out your rubbish. The area is open around the clock, but daylight hours are safest and most rewarding.

Best Time to Visit

Early morning or late afternoon delivers softer light and fewer people. Midday—especially on weekends and school holidays—sees the most crowding and the harshest glare. Sunset can be lovely as the escarpment warms up, and calm mornings often bring crisp valley definition.

Wildlife

Expect birdlife overhead and in the trees around the picnic area; bring binoculars if you like to linger on the platform.

Is It Worth It?

Absolutely—this is a minimal-effort, maximum-view stop. If you want the roar and spray of the falls, pair it with nearby lookouts. Otherwise, Jamison Lookout is perfect for first-timers, quick photo stops, and as a warm‑up before tackling the cliff‑line tracks.
