Wentworth Falls picnic area

Wentworth Falls picnic area is a grassy clifftop lunch stop among banksias and gum trees, with Jamison Lookout just across the road. It’s an easy place to take a break, enjoy the escarpment view, or set out on one of the nearby walks. I’d make time for the lookout, then decide whether you want a short wander or a step-heavy waterfall walk.

From Wentworth Falls, take Falls Road off the Great Western Highway and follow it to the end. The road is sealed for 2WD, and the paved car park can be busy on weekends. You’ll find flush toilets, drinking water, picnic tables and benches. Most paths are flat concrete or hard-packed ground; accessible tables and toilets are available, along with two accessible parking spaces, though some tables mean crossing flat grass. There are no barbecues. Bring a gas or fuel stove only when park and total fire bans allow it. Pets aren’t allowed, except certified assistance animals.

The 1.6 km Weeping Rock Circuit is a Grade 3 loop that takes about an hour. It descends around 200 steps to Fletchers Lookout, continues to the top of Wentworth Falls and a shallow pool, then returns past Weeping Rock. This is a real walk, not an extension of the accessible picnic area: the circuit has no wheelchair access. At Weeping Rock, Jamison Creek spills over a rock overhang into shallow pools where freshwater crayfish may hide.
