Trail Type & Stats
This is best treated as a short out-and-back to the pool, about 0.5 miles (0.8 km) total return. Most walkers take 20–40 minutes plus whatever time they linger at the water. Expect lots of steps and uneven natural surfaces. It’s not suitable for prams or wheelchairs, and pets aren’t permitted. If you want more mileage, you can continue beyond the pool to link with Lyrebird Dell for a longer circuit.

The track descends through a sheltered rainforest pocket packed with tree ferns, mossy sandstone, and eucalyptus. Birdlife is a highlight—listen for lyrebirds and cockatoos in the gully. The payoff is a shady, waterfall-fed pool: picture-perfect, shallow, and ideal for a paddle rather than a real swim.

Start from Gordon Falls Reserve (near Lone Pine Avenue). There are toilets and picnic facilities at the reserve, and the track is signposted. Wear shoes with good grip—after rain the steps and rocks can be muddy and slick. Supervise kids on the steep stair sections and near the water. Best Time to Hike
Year-round. On hot days, the gully stays pleasantly cool and the pool is a refreshing splash spot. After rain, the waterfall is livelier, but the track is muddier and more slippery—tradeoffs. For fewer people and softer light, go early morning or late afternoon, especially on weekends.
