Guide
Lecht Ski Centre is a lift-served skiing and snowboarding base at the high pass between Cockbridge and Tomintoul, with its day lodge beside the A939. It has operated since the mid-1970s. Plan around the snow report: this is a weather-dependent ski day, so what is open can change.
The centre works especially well for families and people learning to ski, with lessons and beginner terrain as well as blue runs for those already comfortable on skis or a board. Visitors also describe it as a compact area, so seasoned skiers looking for a large spread of terrain may want a bigger destination. Queues for equipment hire and lifts can build at busy times.
The day lodge brings equipment hire, toilets and food together at the base. The hire department covers skis, snowboards, boots and helmets; the café is handy between runs. Parking is beside the centre. If you can, arrive early on a busy day, when visitors report queues for hire, lifts and café service.
The A939 crosses high ground between Cockbridge and Tomintoul, so winter weather can affect the drive as well as the slopes. Check the centre's current snow and lift status and the road conditions before setting out. The available runs and lifts depend on snow and weather.
