Still is a box-like viewpoint sculpture at a former limestone quarry just outside Tomintoul, on the Snow Roads Scenic Route. Its two open ends frame the River Avon and the Cairngorm Mountains, while mirror-lined walls reflect the same landscape around you. It’s a distinctive short stop if you want the view with an art installation built around it. Park in the large A939 layby; the walk uphill to the sculpture is short but steep.

Step inside and look through one of the openings. Put a mirrored wall at the edge of your photo so the landscape appears both beyond the frame and reflected beside it. That catches the trick the sculpture was built for, with the River Avon valley and Cairngorm slopes in view.

Glasgow architects Angus Ritchie and Daniel Tyler designed Still. It stands at the site of the old limestone quarry and reuses quarry spoil in stone-filled gabion baskets. A picnic table sits beside the parking area, making it an easy place to pause before continuing along the Snow Roads.
