Cairngorms National Park, SC
A short, easy woodland loop with carved stones about the landscape.
Overview
Mindfulness Trail is a 0.5 km (0.31 mi) accessible loop through a small woodland by the Glenlivet Estate information centre. Stone artworks make this quick circuit a close look at how water, rock, soil and living things shape the landscape. Allow about 15 minutes. It’s a gentle add-on in Tomintoul, not a substantial hike. The mapped line here approximates the published loop; follow the on-site markers if it differs from the ground.

Trail guide
The artworks and interpretive stops cover pollinators and farming as well as mountain-making, glacial and water-cut valleys, weathering, rolling rocks, soil, mycelium and moss. The appeal is the compact series of close-up features, rather than a long woodland wander.
Start at the information board in the Glenlivet Estate Visitor Centre car park, just south of Tomintoul. Toilets are at the visitor centre. The approach from the car park has a moderate slope; the loop itself is mostly smooth and firm, with gentle slopes and bridges. Dogs are welcome; keep them close and use a lead where requested. A longer Tomintoul village walk includes this short circuit as one part, but is a separate route.
