Oregon Inlet Campground is a National Park Service campground on Bodie Island, just south of Nags Head, with 107 sites in three loops. It sits on the ocean side of the barrier islands, but dunes separate the sites from the beach. Choose it for an open, surf-close base, not a leafy campsite.

A simple, open setupEvery site has a paved parking pad, a picnic table and a charcoal grill.

Every site has a paved parking pad, a picnic table and a charcoal grill. Each loop has a bathhouse with flush toilets, and potable running water is available. There are no shade trees, and mosquitoes may be a problem, so plan for sun and bring repellent. Wood fires aren’t allowed; charcoal cooking fires have to stay in a grill, stove or other self-contained unit.
