A short distance away sits the Feldtmann Fire Tower, a historic lookout that anchors this ridge. If conditions allow, heading toward the tower area can expand your views even further and gives context to how this high ground once helped spot wildfires across the island.

Wildlife

Scan the lake for waterfowl—mergansers and goldeneyes are the headliners here. Be patient and bring binoculars; the best activity tends to be over the wetlands and open water below. The broader area supports beavers, moose, and plenty of songbirds, though the most reliable viewing is down near the lake margins.
