CLOSURE

Tent and hammock camping closed at four campgrounds

Tent-site, group-site, tent, and hammock camping are currently closed at Three Mile, Daisy Farm, Moskey Basin, and Caribou Island Campgrounds because of increased human-wildlife interactions and food-storage concerns. - Off-trail camping zones 10–13 and 30–38, plus Zone 9 near Merritt Lane Campground, are closed. - Shelters remain open, closed areas will be patrolled for compliance, and Merritt Lane Campground is open. - Duncan Narrows Campground and Dock are fully open; its closure was lifted August 4, 2026. - Food, trash, and scented items must be stored in animal-resistant, hard-sided containers or food-storage lockers, and backpacks must be stored in shelters. Food storage and wolf activity will continue to be monitored; wolf hazing is ongoing, and visitors should report wolf sightings to a ranger as soon as possible. - Additional regulations and new closures could occur during the remainder of the season if necessary. Check current camping conditions before departing.

Greenstone Ridge Trail flooded near Angleworm Lake

The Greenstone Ridge Trail between Daisy Farm and East Chickenbone is flooded due to beaver activity; follow the flagged reroute. - Follow flagging north of the trail to a rock outcrop, then reconnect with the trail in approximately 150 yards near the west end of Angleworm Lake. Check current trail conditions before hiking.

CAUTION

Algal blooms in Lake Richie and Intermediate Lake

Inspect water before collecting because algal blooms are currently present in Lake Richie and Intermediate Lake. - Do not filter where there is surface scum, strong odors, or other evidence of a significant bloom; use a bloom-free area or another water source because blooms move with wind and rain. - Filtering relatively clear water from an impacted source is low risk, and toxin levels are consistently low on Isle Royale. Check current water conditions before collecting water.
