Expect a reliable parade of plains game and elephants with real predator potential. Guests have recorded hyenas, leopards, and even lions dropping in, especially in the darker hours and early mornings before gates open. The rhythm changes by season and weather, but patience pays—this is a place where you settle in and let the bush come to you.

How to View It

There’s no separate hide at the waterhole; viewing is from inside Orpen Camp. The clearest angles are along the fence line, and only a small number of family units look directly toward the pan. Vegetation can partially obstruct the view from some spots, so wander the fence for the best vantage. A popular live webcam points here, too, which hints at how much action this spot gets.

Best Time to Visit

• Prime hours: late afternoon through a few hours after dark, and again at first light when the floodlights help pick out movement and predators are active.
