Chulitna Lodge Wilderness Retreat is a private lodge on the shore of Lake Clark, within the national park and preserve. You get there by charter plane and a boat transfer from the airstrip, so it is a booked wilderness stay rather than a roadside stop. Arrange your stay and transport ahead of time. If you are not staying at a lodge, bring your own food unless you have arranged meals in advance.
What comes with the stayGuest cabins sit apart from the main lodge, which has the kitchen, dining room and library.
Guest cabins sit apart from the main lodge, which has the kitchen, dining room and library. The overnight package includes meals and snacks plus boat pickup and drop-off; the charter flight is separate. Recent guests describe breakfasts, shared family-style dinners and packed lunches for outing days. It is not a walk-in restaurant, so arrange any meal stop ahead.

Options include hikes from the property, fishing, kayak and stand-up paddleboard rentals, guided boat trips and fly-outs. Confirm what is available for your dates and arrange excursions ahead. This suits a visitor who wants time on the lake with outings and quiet time in between; it is a poor fit for a quick park stop.

The property's history traces back to a 1932 homestead cabin, moved log by log down the hill to the lakeshore and now part of the main lodge. The property took the name Chulitna Lodge in 1963 and has operated as a wilderness retreat and artist residency since 2007.

In the wider Lake Clark area, the Ancestral Telaquana Trail linked Telaquana Lake with Qizhjeh (Kijik Village) on Lake Clark. It was a travel route and subsistence area, and Dena'ina oral histories preserve its story. That history reaches well beyond the lodge itself.
