Guide
Silver Creek Camp is a remote backcountry campsite on Ross Lake, reached by boat rather than road. It sits 20 miles from Ross Dam and 2 miles from Hozomeen, with a dock listed at the camp. It suits a planned lake trip; it is not a quick roadside stop.
A backcountry permit is required for overnight camping at Ross Lake's boat-in camps. The lake is usually fullest from late June through mid-September; drawdowns at other times expose rocks and snags. Strong gusts can arrive without warning, though mornings are often calmer. Ross Lake stays cold even in summer, so allow for changing conditions and carry the required boating safety gear.
Ross Lake boat-in camps have vault toilets, picnic tables, fire rings and bear-resistant food lockers. Keep food, garbage and scented items in the locker. Bring a water-treatment method: lake and nearby stream water should be boiled or treated before drinking.
