Set on Grassy Key at mile marker 59 on the Overseas Highway, this non‑profit runs a cluster of saltwater lagoons where resident dolphins and sea lions live, train, and star in frequent educational demos. The vibe is learning‑forward, not theme‑park—expect trainers on microphones, behavior sessions, and lots of Q&A rather than a single big “show.”

If you want more than watching from the boardwalk, you can book encounters, splashes, VIP or researcher experiences, or even a full “ultimate trainer for a day.” Private encounters are also offered. These book up—reserve ahead if they’re a must for your group.

Practicalities

• Hours shift seasonally: Sep 5–Dec 15, 9:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. (last admission 2:30 p.m.); Dec 16–Sep 4, 9:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. (last admission 3:30 p.m.). Closed Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
• General admission (at time of research): adults $36; ages 4–12 $25; 3 and under free. Military/veteran discounts available with ID.
• On‑site perks: Anchor’s Cafe for breakfast/lunch, a gift shop, free parking, and leashed pets are welcome.
• Photography: personal cameras are welcome around the grounds, but during interactive programs cameras/phones are restricted; professional photos are available for purchase.

How Long to Spend

Plan 2–3 hours for general admission. That’s enough to catch multiple narrated sessions, stroll the boardwalks, and let kids cool off at the sprayground without rushing.

Is It Worth a Stop?

Yes—especially if you value education and up‑close observation over spectacle. General admission delivers a lot via rotating talks and training sessions; spring for an encounter only if hands‑on time is a priority.

• Aim for opening hour to catch early sessions with smaller crowds and cooler temps. Midday—especially Saturdays—sees the highest activity.
