About Uluṟu Camel Farm
Why stop

Uluṟu Camel Farm is a working camel farm and small visitor attraction in Yulara, known for its camels, saddlery and cameleer-history displays as well as its rides. Allow about an hour or two to look around. You can visit the farm without taking a ride, so it still works if you want the animals and exhibits but would rather not ride. If the ride is your reason for coming, arrange it separately before building your day around it.

The saddlery is one of the most distinctive parts of the visit: saddles and harnesses are made here from scratch. A complete saddle takes about 30 hours to make and weighs 18 kilograms. Even if you skip the ride, it gives you a look at the practical work behind camel touring.

The Australian & Afghan Cameleers Museum shares the history of camel use in exploration and outback life, including the work of Afghan and Australian cameleers and Aboriginal guides. Outside, the staging-post display includes a restored Cobb & Co. coach, a 12-seat wagon and a three-seat buggy. Give the artifacts and vehicles a look before heading back into Yulara; they add useful context to a stop that could otherwise be just a quick camel visit.

The farm’s windmill came from Curtin Springs Station, where it served the homestead for more than 40 years. It was salvaged in 2013 and now stands in the farmyard with the camels and old vehicles. Those make the best close-up subjects here. The wider Uluru and Kata Tjuṯa outlook is at a sand-dune stop during the camel rides, not a viewpoint walk from the farm. Sunrise rides include damper, Australian jams, tea and coffee; sunset rides include damper and drinks.
