The camp usually operates from about May to mid-October; exact dates vary each year. From Wawona Road, turn onto Chilnualna Road, then Wawona District Circle. It is roughly 28 miles south of Yosemite Valley. The Yosemite History Center is right next door, and Mariposa Grove is a short drive away. Wawona served as Yosemite’s headquarters in 1904, and historic structures remain in the settlement.

Each site has a fire ring, picnic table and food locker, with a seasonal flush toilet and drinking water nearby. Each allows up to six people and six head of stock, plus two vehicles and two stock trailers. Grazing is prohibited, so bring feed; weed-free feed is required, and manure must be cleaned up daily. Site 1 allows an RV up to 35 feet; Site 2 allows up to 30 feet. The campsites themselves are not accessible, though the nearby restroom is reached by a paved sidewalk.
