Make the logistics clear

The pool, fitness center and trails are listed among overnight resort amenities, while golf, spa treatments and the zipline may add separate costs or booking steps. The lodge does not clearly spell out walk-in access for every facility, so confirm before centering a day visit on an amenity. Leashed visiting dogs can use the three trails and Gorge Room on a six-foot leash, but pets are not allowed in the dining rooms, spa or pool.

More about Skamania Lodge

A resort stay, not a roadside stopSkamania Lodge is a resort hotel on a wooded hillside above the Columbia River in Stevenson,…

Skamania Lodge is a resort hotel on a wooded hillside above the Columbia River in Stevenson, Washington. The main lodge has rooms and suites, with separate treehouses, cabins, villas and glamping on the property. Opened in 1993, its design draws on early-20th-century Pacific Northwest lodges. Inside, the lobby has a 12-foot bear carving and a towering river-stone fireplace. Choose it as a comfortable base for a Gorge trip, not as a substitute for one of the river overlooks.

Fill a day on the propertyOvernight guests have access to three on-property hiking trails, a pool and a fitness center.

Overnight guests have access to three on-property hiking trails, a pool and a fitness center. The outdoor mix also includes the Gorge 9 short golf course, an 18-hole putting course, disc golf, ziplining, an aerial course and e-bike rentals. It gives the resort a lot to do between hikes or on a quieter day. Some activities require a separate fee or advance booking, so check access before traveling just for one of them.

Eat on siteThe Cascade Dining Room and River Rock Lounge are the lodge's main dining options.

The Cascade Dining Room and River Rock Lounge are the lodge's main dining options. Their menus lean into Pacific Northwest produce, meat and seafood. Columbia River steelhead shows up in dishes such as chowder and breakfast hash, though individual offerings change with the season. If you're staying here, you can have dinner without driving back into town; a meal at the lodge is part of the resort experience.
