Guide
This low limestone boulder is the welcome sign at the Homestead entrance to Everglades National Park. It marks mile zero of Main Park Road, the route south toward Royal Palm and Flamingo. The plaque carries the park name, a heron, and the National Park Service arrowhead. Think of it as a small arrival landmark, not a visitor center.
The fee station and Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center are separate stops farther along the road. I couldn't verify a marked visitor pull-off at the sign, so don't plan on a photo stop unless you can park legally and completely out of traffic. The visitor center is the practical place for maps, exhibits, restrooms, ranger guidance, and snacks.
If you have a safe place to stop, frame the heron panel and arrowhead against the stone, then widen the view to include the palms and road. That makes it read as the start of the park drive, rather than just a sign.
