More about Desert View Entrance Station

What it isDesert View Entrance Station is the east-side vehicle gate into Grand Canyon National Park,…

Desert View Entrance Station is the east-side vehicle gate into Grand Canyon National Park, where AZ 64 from Cameron meets the park. It is a fee checkpoint and the gateway to the Desert View area, not a viewpoint or visitor center. Passes, maps, and staff are available at the station.

Where it fitsIf you are driving in from Cameron, this is the natural entrance.

If you are driving in from Cameron, this is the natural entrance. NPS says it is usually less crowded than the South Entrance, though a short line is never guaranteed. Continue west toward Desert View Drive and Grand Canyon Village; the canyon overlooks and visitor services are in the separate Desert View area beyond the booths.

Keep the services straightThe station itself is not a place to stop for a canyon view, meal, or restroom.

The station itself is not a place to stop for a canyon view, meal, or restroom. At Desert View, a little farther along, you will find the parking area, restrooms, Trading Post, market and deli, and pay-at-pump gas. The entrance generally operates day and night, though snow can temporarily close it.
