More about The Old Store Café

A village café with a Tablelands viewThe Old Store Café is a small café on Main Street in Norris Point, with views of the Tablelands.

The Old Store Café is a small café on Main Street in Norris Point, with views of the Tablelands. It is an easy sit-down stop for coffee or a meal while exploring the village or driving between Gros Morne’s coast and inland trails. Norris Point’s waterfront is less than 1.5 km away, and the Gros Morne Mountain trailhead is about 10 km away, so this is a town café rather than a trailhead canteen. Come when you want a place to pause over food and take in a Tablelands view as part of the break. Its setting makes it useful to pair with time in Norris Point, not a destination that calls for a day on its own.

The food range includes panini, wraps, soups, salads, and assorted baked goods, with breakfast and lunch service. Local ingredients and gluten-friendly options are part of the offering. Coffee is an easy reason to stop; baked goods suit a smaller break, while soup or a panini makes this a more substantial lunch stop. There is takeout as well as seating, so you can choose the kind of pause that fits your day. Outdoor seating adds another option when you want to sit outside, and groups and bus tours are welcome.

Making the stop workThe café is at 216 Main Street, across from the Norris Point playground, and has about 35 seats.

The café is at 216 Main Street, across from the Norris Point playground, and has about 35 seats. Free parking and Wi-Fi are listed, and takeout makes it possible to keep the stop short. Right next door at 218 Main Street is the Old Store Gift & Ice Cream Shop, a separate business for Newfoundland-made crafts and ice cream; it does not share the café’s menu or operating schedule. The café follows a seasonal schedule, so check ahead before relying on it outside the main visitor season. This works well for coffee or lunch in Norris Point, especially if you are already in the village; if you are heading straight to the mountain trailhead, it is a separate town stop about 10 km away.
