Whispering Cave is Hocking Hills State Park’s free public disc golf course near the lodge and cabins, separate from the park’s Whispering Cave hike. The designed layout has 18 holes and suits players who enjoy wooded, technical play; a full round is about 2.2 miles and roughly two hours. Current information conflicts on back-nine availability, so check before planning around all 18.
Between the teesThe first tee is near the stop sign as you head toward the cabins.
The first tee is near the stop sign as you head toward the cabins. Expect a hilly walk through wooded corridors, with rubber tee pads and DISCatcher targets; this is not a cart-friendly course. Hole-to-hole navigation can take some attention, so leave time to find the next pad. There is no drinking water at the course, so bring enough for the round.
Built in two stagesThe permanent course was established in 2018, and its back nine opened in 2019.
The permanent course was established in 2018, and its back nine opened in 2019. It’s a substantial workout by the standards of a park stop, with the climbs and tight wooded lines doing as much to shape the round as the baskets.
