Wapiti is a frontcountry campground beside the Athabasca River in Jasper National Park, a few minutes from Jasper townsite on AB-93A. Stay here for a developed base close to town and the Icefields Parkway; it suits campers who value convenience and facilities over a remote feel. Most RV and trailer sizes fit, and electrical sites offer 15-, 30- or 50-amp service.

River and mountain settingThe riverbank and surrounding mountain scenery give the campground its sense of place.

The riverbank and surrounding mountain scenery give the campground its sense of place. Campers sometimes see elk moving through, but that is a lucky encounter, not something to plan around.

After the wildfireThe 2024 Jasper wildfire left parts of Wapiti more open than older photos suggest.
