Guide
This small gravel spit near the entrance to Northwestern Fiord is a water-taxi drop-off and pickup point for kayak parties. It is a useful start or finish for a remote paddle, rather than a conventional beach-day stop. From the spit, a wide photo can show the narrow strip of gravel between the water and the two low rocks offshore.
A submerged glacial moraine marks the fjord entrance. Strong tidal currents cross it, and large breaking waves can form suddenly on either side of the narrow channel. The long beach east of the moraine is usually unsuitable for landing because of surf. Bring a marine chart and check tide tables before making the crossing.
A food-storage locker sits near the tree line. Keep your stay to one night so the landing stays available for other pickups and drop-offs. Seasonal closures for nesting shorebirds may apply, so check current park notices before setting out.
