Dacy Clearing and Sleeping Beauty“You're nearing the Hogtown access to Dacy Clearing and Sleeping Beauty Mountain. I'd hike from the clearing to the rocky Lake George overlook and return the same way, roughly four miles round trip.”

Trail guide
Greenland Pond Trail is a remote out-and-back from Dacy Clearing in Lake George Wild Forest. The mapped route is about 7.6 miles round trip; allow four to five hours. It follows the approach via Bumps Pond and Fishbrook Pond, then continues east for the final mile to Greenland Pond. Choose it for a half-day in the backcountry. If that is too much, Bumps Pond gives a roughly 3.2-mile return and Fishbrook Pond about five miles, using the published segment distances.
The first leg climbs about 850 feet over 1.6 miles to Bumps Pond. Another 0.9 mile brings you to Fishbrook; the final 1.0 mile goes east to Greenland. A 2012 trip report described wet ground and blazes that were hard to see along that last spur. Current tread and markings are unconfirmed, so carry an offline map and allow time for slower route-finding.
The destination is a small, secluded pond with a DEC-listed lean-to. The same older report used the south-shore path and described tall meadow grass on the north side; treat that as a past observation, not a promise. No toilet or treated-water facility was documented for the route.
Start at Dacy Clearing Parking Area. The land is open year-round and free; parking capacity and overflow details were not found. Carry your own food and water for the full outing; no service along the route was found. Pets are allowed and should stay under control.
