Little Pools in the Canopy“On a forest walk, look up for leafy clumps sitting on branches. Some are bromeliads, plants that use the tree for support without taking food from it. In tank bromeliads, the leaves form a funnel that catches rain.”

Trail guide
Sendero El Perezoso is a raised boardwalk through the forest, about 0.36 miles one way from its northern junction to the southern connection with the park’s interior route network. It runs alongside the main unpaved visitor corridor. Treat it as a short point-to-point path, not a loop; retracing it makes an outing of about 0.7 miles, while other park routes add a longer walk. Allow about 20 minutes to walk this segment, plus time to stop.
Handrails and Braille interpretation make this a useful route for a slower look at the forest. Benches and interpretive signs appear at roughly 50-meter intervals. Perezoso means “sloth,” and sloths are known to favor this corridor. Take a moment to scan the branches above the boardwalk, but sightings are never guaranteed.
The route is presented as a universal-access option, with a broad raised walkway, railings and Braille signs. It is described as level, but a complete grade profile is not published, and connecting paths may have different surfaces or slopes. If you need reliable step-free access from end to end, check with park staff before setting out.
The boardwalk sits inside the park’s paid visitor area, beside the main route. The cafeteria and restrooms are at the main fork nearby, rather than along the boardwalk itself. Ordinary pets are not allowed in the park.
