Trail guide
Hockey’s Farm Loop is a 2.5-mile circular walk that starts and finishes at Hockey’s Farm; allow about 1.5 hours. It leaves on a small roadside path, follows Newtown Lane and grassy verges, then opens onto heathland and turns through forest tracks and country paths. Wide views across the heath are the main reward, with a chance of seeing free-roaming animals. It is a compact countryside walk rather than a long route.
The mapped directions bear right at the houses onto Newtown Lane, then take a left at a substantial junction and another left at the fork near The Huff Duff. Keep left at later forks; turn right by the copse toward the road and return along the roadside path. There are several junctions, so keep the route map handy. The loop is short, but its published grade is moderate; the walk mixes lanes, grassy edges, heath and woodland tracks.
Use Hockey’s Farm for both ends; parking is listed there. The Farmyard Café and shop are beside the route start, making breakfast, lunch or local produce an easy stop before or after. Dogs are welcome on this walk. Keep them under effective control around free-roaming animals and stay on the main tracks.
