Guide
Warden's House is a small park warden's home built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, tucked beside the Ewoldsen Memorial Nature Center in Pfeiffer Big Sur. Its park-rustic style pairs a stone foundation with Craftsman wood above. It's a brief history stop for anyone already near the Nature Center, not a destination with a public interior tour.
The documented approach to the house area crosses the Big Sur River on the modern footbridge from the lodge, campground and picnic-area side. No route length or house-specific access details are published; when the park is open, keep to paths marked for public use—there's no documented interior tour.
CCC crews built the custodian's cottage in 1934, during the years they were developing the park. The house shows the domestic side of that work: stone below, wood above, rather than a visitor center or recreation hall. If you like sturdy architecture from the park's early years, it's a worthwhile short detour; otherwise, the Nature Center and river are the more substantial stops.
