Overview
Doublet Pool is a hot spring on Geyser Hill in the Upper Geyser Basin, made of two clear basins joined at a narrow neck. It’s a detail stop: look for the sawtooth mineral rim and the orange thermophile trails instead of expecting a scheduled eruption. Deep vents sit in the middle of each pool, with shallow shelves around the edges.

Doublet has erupted only rarely; one documented eruption followed the 1959 earthquake. Its usual activity is bubbling and steam. Sometimes large bubbles rising and collapsing below the surface make a low thump and briefly lift the water. Give it a moment if you’re already there, but the pulses are intermittent, with no dependable interval to plan around.
Water spills over the rough sinter rim and leaves orange, starburst-like trails across the outflow. From the boardwalk, frame both pools with the narrow connection and those orange trails; it shows how the basins join and brings out the scalloped edges. The bright water gets your attention first, but the rim and runoff are what make this pool distinctive.
You reach Doublet on foot along Geyser Hill’s boardwalks and designated trails. Stay on them: hydrothermal water can severely burn you. Treat the pool as one pause among the Upper Geyser Basin’s features, not a drive-up stop or a guaranteed show.
