Emerald Lake Lodge

Emerald Lake Lodge is a timber-and-stone mountain lodge with guest rooms and cabins on the shore of Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park. It makes the most sense as an overnight stay built around the setting, with dining and a bar in the main building; it isn't a regular roadside pullout. Upper and lower verandas face the surrounding mountains, and the cabins spread through the trees along the lake.

Overnight guests leave their vehicles in a signed lot near the lake entrance and take the complimentary shuttle to the lodge. The approach follows Emerald Lake Road for about 8 km; you don't drive to the rooms. Guests and visitors need a valid Parks Canada Discovery Pass. If you're coming only for a meal or a look around, confirm day-visitor parking and access first; those details aren't clear from the available information.

The property began as a Canadian Pacific Railway lodge in 1902. The main lodge remains the original structure, with hand-hewn timber and large stone fireplaces. Inside the bar, look for an oak counter salvaged from an 1890s Yukon saloon. Pat and Connie O'Connor acquired the property in 1979, restored or rebuilt its historic cabins, and reopened it in 1986.

Mount Burgess Dining Room and Kicking Horse Bar & Lounge are in the main building. The kitchen describes its cooking as Rocky Mountain and Canadian, with game meats, seafood and seasonal ingredients. Cilantro on the Lake and The Window are separate lakeside venues, so don't confuse them with the dining room and bar at the lodge itself.

Cell service is absent, guest rooms have no televisions, and Wi-Fi is available only in the main lodge. The clubhouse has a sauna and hot tub for guests. The trade-off is that some rooms can feel dated for the price, so choose this for the lake setting and old lodge character rather than expecting a uniformly polished modern resort.
