Cedar Pass Campground

Cedar Pass Campground is Badlands National Park's developed, paid front-country campground: 96 sites on open prairie near Ben Reifel Visitor Center. It is a convenient base for the park's main visitor area. Tent-only and RV sites are arranged in the Agate and Butte loops, with a separate Group Loop; some RV sites have electrical hookups.

Flush toilets, cold running water and covered picnic tables are available; coin-operated showers operate in summer. The Group Loop has a complimentary RV dump station, and four group campsites are available to organized groups with a designated leader. Campfires are prohibited; use a permitted camp stove. Two individual sites and one Group Loop site are wheelchair accessible on a first-come basis, with accessible restrooms and fee machine.

Cedar Pass Lodge and its restaurant, the park's only place to buy food, are an easy walk away, as is the visitor center. In summer, rangers give a short Badlands talk at the nearby amphitheater, then lead a night-sky program; telescopes are often used to point out stars and planets.

The prairie setting gives campers views of the Badlands formations, but it is exposed to wind and heat. Visitors often praise the scenery and location; some report tight or sloped individual pitches and little privacy, which can make tent camping and outdoor cooking harder. NPS describes the sites as level, so the experience can vary by pitch.
