Bow Lake Picnic Site is the signed roadside viewpoint and lakeside day-use stop on the Icefields Parkway, about 37 km north of Lake Louise. It sits 1.3 km south of the main Bow Lake access. Use the upper pullout for a quick lake-and-peak view, or continue down the signed gravel road to the lower picnic area. The viewpoint and day-use area are marked summer-only; snow can limit access and services in winter.

The upper viewpoint and lower picnic area have separate parking. Visitors describe the upper lot as small and the lower lot as roomier, so keep left at the viewpoint and follow the sign down if you are looking for a table. Park only in marked spaces; roadside parking is prohibited.

Bow Lake is a glacial lake surrounded by glaciers; fine glacial sediment gives its water its blue-green color. From the lower shore, clear shallows and pale stones make a strong foreground against the peaks. On a calm day, reflections add a second mountain line; the upper pullout gives the broader panorama.
