Best time to go
Use the parking area by Fenland Trail access. Banff day-use lots can fill quickly, so park in marked stalls and keep vehicles off the roadside. Snow can limit winter access and services, although the area is not closed for winter.

Guide
Fenland is a day-use picnic area on the west side of Mount Norquay Road, about 1 km from Banff. It is a practical place for an outdoor meal or a short reset, rather than a destination to plan a day around. There are picnic tables, bike racks and outhouses, with hiking, biking and an interpretive trail nearby. Bring your own food.
The neighboring Fenland Trail is a gentle 2.1 km loop with minimal elevation gain and about 40 minutes of walking. Its forested creekside route crosses wooden bridges beneath old-growth spruce, making it an easy way to stretch your legs before or after lunch.
