Island Lake Campground is a 21-site high-mountain campground along the Beartooth Highway in Shoshone National Forest. The lake and mountain setting is the draw, with hikes toward Island, Night and Beauty lakes nearby. It’s a good base for a straightforward stay outdoors.
Sites are first come, first served. You’ll find vault toilets, potable water, picnic tables and bear boxes. Food storage is required, and there’s no garbage collection, so pack out your trash. Camp spurs top out at 32 feet; the stay limit is 16 days, and dogs must be leashed.
