The Speyside Centre is a family-run garden centre and visitor-information point near Dulnain Bridge, between Aviemore and Grantown-on-Spey. With a café, gift shop and toilets alongside its plant displays, it works best as a comfortable break on a drive through Strathspey rather than a full-day attraction. The grounds also have a wildlife-viewing area; treat birds or red squirrels as a bonus, not a promised sighting.
The café serves meals and snacks as well as home baking. Clootie dumpling, a traditional Scottish pudding, is its best-known specialty. I'd stop for coffee and baking or a convenient lunch, then browse the garden centre's heather, shrubs, trees and alpines and the gift shop. Opinions on meal value and portions vary, so I wouldn't make a special food detour on that alone.
The centre was formerly known as the Speyside Heather Centre, reflecting its focus on heather and garden plants. A major fire damaged much of the former centre in 2016; the family-run business was rebuilt. That history explains why older local references may use the Heather Centre name.
The advertised wildlife area is set up for watching local birds and small mammals, and visitors often mention red squirrels, though sightings depend on what's around. The centre lists level access, outdoor seating, parking, toilets and Wi-Fi, and welcomes dogs.
