Neils Brook Beach is a small sandy stretch at the quieter end of Neil’s Harbour Beach, where boreal forest gives way to an estuary. It’s a good stop for an easy walk to the water and a picnic, rather than a drive-up viewpoint. Allow 45–50 minutes for the 2.5 km return walk.

Where the beach sitsThe sand lies between the Atlantic at Neil’s Harbour and Neil’s Harbour Pond.

The sand lies between the Atlantic at Neil’s Harbour and Neil’s Harbour Pond. At the end of the walk, the view opens across the brook’s estuary toward a low sandbar and wooded headlands. For a wide beach view, keep the rocky shore in the foreground and frame the sandbar across the water.

Before you goThe route starts at the Cabot Trail and follows an easy path through boreal forest to the beach.

The route starts at the Cabot Trail and follows an easy path through boreal forest to the beach. There’s no lifeguard on duty, so swimming is unsupervised. The trail isn’t maintained in the off-season; check current conditions before going then. Bring water and insect repellent in summer, when black flies and mosquitoes are common and coastal weather can change quickly.
