Trail guide
Jigging Cove Lake Trail is an easy 2.4 km loop from the parking lot on the Cabot Trail, circling a small, man-made lake through Acadian forest. Allow about an hour at a relaxed pace. It suits a short nature walk or some birdwatching; choose a lookout trail if you want a wide coastal view.
The trail is level but rugged, with wet sections. An older route description mentions short plank stretches followed by muddy, rooty and rocky ground; treat those details as clues to the rough character, not a current conditions report. The lake comes into view in a few openings, with trees closing in between.
The lake is man-made, and the shoreline is the main reason to take this loop. The name comes from nearby Jigging Cove, where fishers used to jig for cod. A separate cove continuation appears in older accounts, but its current connection isn't verified; it is not part of this mapped lake circuit.
The trailhead is a parking lot on the Cabot Trail, and park admission applies. Lot capacity, toilets, drinking water and food at the lot or along the loop were not found in the trail information. Check current park guidance before bringing a dog; a trail-specific pet rule could not be confirmed.
