Getting here and planning a stay

The entrance is at 386 U.S. 6; turn at the blue-and-white “Seasonal Camping” sign just beyond mile marker 16. It’s well placed for beaches, hiking, paved bike trails, and Provincetown’s shops and restaurants. Think of it as a seasonal base for those outings, especially if you want a wooded site with campground facilities close by.

Dunes’ Edge Campground is a 17-acre, Trustees-run campground in Provincetown, set among dunes and pines along the edge of Cape Cod National Seashore. It’s a private campground, not an NPS facility, and works as an overnight base for exploring the Outer Cape rather than a day attraction. There are more than 90 wooded sites for tents, pop-ups, and vans, five canvas bungalows, and 15 spaces for trailers and motorhomes. The trailer spaces are limited to vehicles up to 28 feet for motorhomes and 24 feet for trailers.

The campsites sit fairly close together; trees and vegetation offer some screening, but this isn’t the place to count on wide-open privacy. Hot showers are coin-operated, and the campground has restrooms, a camp store, laundry, and a dumping station. Trailer sites have water and electric hookups. Wood fires are prohibited, though charcoal, camp stoves, and gas grills are allowed.
