More about Rex Creek Suspension Bridge

Cross above Rex CreekRex Creek Suspension Bridge is a metal footbridge suspended above Rex Creek in the rainforest…

Rex Creek Suspension Bridge is a metal footbridge suspended above Rex Creek in the rainforest at Mossman Gorge, within the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. It gently sways underfoot, with clear water cascading over rocks below. The broader area is recognized for its biological diversity and evolutionary history. If you want a short walk with a real crossing in the middle, the bridge is the payoff.

From the Mossman Gorge shuttle stop and car park, follow Baral Marrjanga to the signed Rex Creek branch. The return walk is 1.4 km, Grade 2, and takes about an hour. After crossing, retrace your steps or continue onto the Rainforest Circuit. The bridge track is not wheelchair accessible; accessible facilities are available at the centre and along the Baral Marrjanga boardwalk to Mossman River Lookout. Mayi Café at the centre has grab-and-go snacks before you take the shuttle; it is a separate stop from the bridge. Local flooding and wet-season maintenance can close the track, so check park alerts before setting out.

Look down through the railsThe bridge crosses Rex Creek near its junction with Mossman River.

The bridge crosses Rex Creek near its junction with Mossman River. From the deck, look down at clear water spilling over the rocks and into quieter pools, where fish and turtles may be easier to spot. For a photo, aim through the railing toward the cascade and boulder pools; it shows the drop beneath the crossing.

Continue for the mountain viewThe Rainforest Circuit starts across the bridge.

The Rainforest Circuit starts across the bridge. About 80 m farther on, a lookout faces Manjal Dimbi (Mount Demi), a worthwhile extra few minutes if you want a mountain view as well as the creek crossing.
