Trail guide
Baral Marrjanga Track is a 660 m return walk from the Mossman Gorge day-use area shuttle stop to a lookout over the Mossman River. You follow the same elevated boardwalk back and should allow about 30 minutes. It is a Grade 1 walk, suitable for wheelchairs and strollers, though wheelchair users may need assistance.
Two sections of elevated boardwalk take you through the lower rainforest canopy. This is a short, easy way to look around Mossman Gorge without committing to a longer circuit. Keep an eye out for colourful butterflies among the foliage.
The boardwalk ends above the Mossman River, with mountain ranges beyond. Look for jungle perch and saw-shelled turtles in the water. The river and its granite boulders make this the walk’s best photo stop; keep them in the foreground with the ranges behind.
Start at the shuttle bus stop/car park in the Mossman Gorge day-use area; the route returns to this same access. Mayi Café at the separate Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre offers grab-and-go snacks before the walk. There are no toilets on the trail; accessible toilets are available at the visitor centre/day-use area. Domestic pets are not permitted in Daintree National Park; certified support dogs are allowed.
